Kurt Wenner adalah Master Pelukis dan Master Arsitek terkenal yang menciptakan gambar tiga dimensi. Seperti: 3D Lukisan Jalan (Street Painting), 3D Lukisan Jalan Aspal (Pavement Art), 3D Lukisan Kapur,(Chalk Art) atau 3D Lukisan Trotoar (Sidewalk Art). Jenis Seni Rupa ini adalah bentuk seni anamorphic. Anamorphism biasanya dianggap sebagai bentuk Ilusi atau trompe loeil (menipu mata), namun sebenarnya adalah Logika dari Perspektif matematika.

Sebutan untuk orang-orang yang membuat seni ini bermacam-macam. Disebut sebagai Madonnaro (sejenis kapur) di Italia, atau seorang Strassenmaler di Jerman, dan Pelukis Trotoar (Sidewalk) di Amerika Serikat, atau Pelukis Jalan Aspal (Pavement) di Inggris.

Kurt Wenner mengenyam pendidikan di Rhode Island School of Design and Art Center College of Design, yang selanjutnya berkarir di NASA sebagai advanced scientific space illustrator.

Pada tahun 1982, Wenner meninggalkan NASA, dan pergi ke Italia untuk mengejar kecintaannya pada seni klasik. Seperti yang disampaikannya pada pernyataannya berikut,

My interest in Renaissance classicism started with the simple desire to draw well. I was struck by the vast difference between how students and teachers drew in the 20th Century and the way artists drew 500 years ago. It seemed to me that artists of the past had abilities far beyond those of today. My curiosity about this discrepancy took me to Rome in order to seek out and master drawing and painting within the “language” of western classicism. During this time I isolated myself from 20th century art in order to explore the ideals and concepts practiced in earlier centuries. It has since become an ongoing mission to rediscover classical traditions and communicate them to a contemporary audience.

Ketika tinggal di Roma, Italia, Wenner mempelajari karya-karya para master seni disana dan juga belajar dari seni patung klasik. Gambar-gambar yang dia buat membuatnya berhubungan dengan bahasa bentuk dalam seni figuratif Barat dan memberinya pelatihan neoklasik yang diperlukan untuk gaya lukisannya, yaitu lukisan 3D.

Selama tahun-tahun pertama di luar negeri ia bereksperimen dengan media cat tradisional seperti tempera, fresco, dan cat minyak. Untuk membiayai perjalanan dan studinya, ia menjadi madonnaro dan membuat lukisan kapur di jalan-jalan Roma. Dalam beberapa tahun ia memenangkan banyak medali emas di kompetisi Eropa dan secara resmi diakui sebagai master dari bentuk seni ini. Pada tahun 1985, Wenner menjadi pemenang dalam National Geographic’s award di bidang Masterpiece in Chalk.
